ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - The Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) has
decided to once again extend deadlines for the submission of bids
for the purchase of several companies, mostly tourist companies and
agribusinesses. Most deadlines have been extended until the end of
April this year. #L#
The deadline for the submission of bids for the purchase of hotel
companies Jelsa, Podgora, Vodicanka and Zivogosce has been
prolonged until April 23. Offers for the purchase of the "Ilocki
podrumi" agribusiness and Split Ironworks should be submitted by
April 28, while those for the purchase of Kutjevo, Orahovica and
Djakovcanka agribusinesses should be submitted by April 24.
The deadlines have been prolonged to enable as many interested
investors as possible to submit their offers, as well as due to the
fact that 90% of privatisation-related decisions cannot be passed
as the government recently replaced the HFP administrative board,
which has paralysed the process of privatisation of the state
portfolio.
The government dismissed the board due to irregularities in the
privatisation of the Suncani Hvar hotel company and decided that
the HFP should be reorganised, entrusting the Economy Ministry with
the task.
Some sources say it is unlikely that the current situation will be
resolved soon.
While some say that resolving the situation requires legal changes
and the adoption of new laws, the possibility of appointing a new
administrative board, probably with some of its old members, is
being considered as well.
However, the appointment of the new administrative board will also
depend on whether the coalition partners will manage to reach
agreement on the matter, particularly on when the elections will be
held - soon or in autumn.
