ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday presented the annual Zlatna kuna (Golden kuna) awards for 2002 which are given for excellent business achievements as based on numerous indicators.

2002 which are given for excellent business achievements as based

Raiffeisenbank Austria was the best bank in Croatia last year,
Croatia osiguranje the best insurance company, Ericsson Nikola
Tesla the best major firm (over 250 employees), M SAN Grupa the best
medium and Mobis Electronic the best small firm.
Attending the ceremony was Prime Minister Ivica Racan, who said the
government stood firmly behind the expansion of domestic
companies. The target is not to have Croatian economy survive on its
own in a merciless open market environment but to make it the
generator and leading economic subject in the region, he said.
In connection with the application for full European Union
membership he will submit in Greece on Friday, Racan said: "It is
certain that by joining the EU Croatia would find a lasting solution
to most of its economy and development problems, and I'm glad the
majority of Croatian citizens see this."
Also presented at the ceremony were the Zlatna kuna life-
achievement award, which went to Jelenka Prelic, and awards for
innovations. A series of new products were awarded the Croatian
Quality and Croatian Origin marks.
