RIJEKA, Feb 15 (Hina) - The secretary-general of the opposition
Social Liberals (HSLS), Dorica Nikolic, said on Saturday Croatia's
ruling coalition "has reached the end" because its five parties
could not agree on anything by consensus. #L#
She said in Rijeka the "coalition's political statements" were no
longer either harmonised or clear, and mentioned the standpoints
concerning the Iraqi crisis, which she said showed Croatia as
unconvincing.
While President Stjepan Mesic talks about it vaguely, Prime
Minister Ivica Racan speaks differently, said Nikolic.
Speaking about relations with neighbouring Slovenia and a deal on
the jointly-owned Krsko nuclear power plant, she said the agreement
was harmful and represented yet another political blunder on
Croatia's part.
Nikolic estimated the next parliamentary elections would probably
be held after the summer. She said the incumbent coalition would use
the pope's impending visit and complete some major projects to
score points with constituents.
