Apart from the possible employment of some 300 people in the zone,
which will spread across more than 221,000 square metres, the
project also provides an opportunity for some 150 new jobs outside
of the zone.
The concession holder is the Poslovni Park Bjelovar d.o.o. company,
established by the town.
Adlesic said that the free zone would bear significant advantage in
its position, since it will be located along the Zagreb-Osijek
highway. Additional value is given to it by the fact that Bjelovar
is not only in the vicinity of Zagreb, but also Croatia's borders
with Hungary and Bosnia.
Some 11 million kuna (EUR1.5 million) will be needed to realise the
project.
Explaining the necessity for opening new free zones, Jurcic said
that some 50 million US dollars had been invested into the opening
of a dozen free zones by the end of 2002, and 3,000 people had been
employed in them.
The Vukovar Free Zone will be opened on Friday. This zone is a model
of engaging production resources and areas of special government
concern, said the minister.
