ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - Croatia's oil company Ina is making a
comeback on the Kosovo market. Company officials will soon discuss
the legal modalities of Ina's return, UN Mission chief in Kosovo
Michael Steiner and Croatian presidential advisor Esad Prohic said
at a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday. #L#
Representatives of the UN Mission to Kosovo (UNMIK) on Tuesday held
talks with President Stjepan Mesic and several government
members.
Steiner commended Ina's return to Kosovo, which would result in the
creation of new jobs.
Prohic explained that Ina's comeback would be carried out in
several phases. The company would only penetrate the market at this
time, not take over any property, he said.
Before the war in Kosovo, Ina owned 28 gas stations and a warehouse
there, worth some EUR30 million.
The UN Mission's three priorities this year are the fight against
crime, the establishment of a multiethnic society and the
development of economy, since unemployment is currently the
biggest problem in the province, said Steiner. This is why it is
important to speak with representatives of other countries about
the promotion of trade and investments, he added.
Free trade, the protection of investments and cultural cooperation
are issues which have been and will be discussed, said Steiner.
He voiced satisfaction with the fact that President Mesic had
accepted his invitation to visit Kosovo.
