RIJEKA, Jan 15 (Hina) - Wednesday's main hearing in the war crimes trial of the so-called Gospic group saw the testimony of Milan Vrkljan, the head of the medical corps in Gospic in 1991, who testified for the defence of one of the
accused, Tihomir Oreskovic.

Vrkljan said Oreskovic had not acted violently towards anyone or
expressed his political or extremist views.
None of the five defendants in the case had been "alpha and omega" in
Gospic in 1991, said the witness. He stated the accused were "the
pride of Gospic" and that without them "my family any I would be
refugees today".
The trial resumes on January 21 when the 1991 deputy interior
minister Smiljan Reljic should testify.
