ZAGREB, Jan 8 (Hina) - In the first nine months of 2002 Croatia's hotel and catering trade saw a turnover of almost nine billion kuna (approx. EUR1.2 billion) or 12.7% more than in the same period the year before, the Bureau of
Statistics reported.

hotel and catering trade saw a turnover of almost nine billion kuna
(approx. EUR1.2 billion) or 12.7% more than in the same period the

Hotels accounted for the largest share of the turnover, totalling
three billion kuna, a drop of 1.2% compared to 2001.
Coffee shops accounted for the second largest share of the overall
turnover, totalling 1.2 billion kuna or 25% more than in 2001, while
restaurants saw a turnover of 767.4 million kuna or three percent
more than the year before.
Tourist settlements accounted for 730 million kuna of the turnover,
which is 21.4% more than in 2001, while camps saw a turnover of 677.3
million kuna or 16.4% more than in 2001.
Istria County saw the highest turnover with 2.3 billion kuna, an
increase of 13% in relation to the same period the year before.
Istria County is followed by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, with a
turnover of 1.6 billion kuna (an increase of six percent) and the
City of Zagreb, with a turnover of 1.2 billion kuna (six percent
more than in 2001).
