Ploce is recording an increasingly better business with liquid
cargo, with close to 200,000 tonnes transhipped last year.
After opening a liquid cargo terminal, the port has become
increasingly attractive, the closest and most cost-effective
destination for the transhipment of such cargo to neighbouring
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The winter period mostly focuses on the transhipment of fuel oil,
engine oil, diesel fuels, and other oil products, keeping the
berths of this highly sophisticated and entirely automated
floating warehouse in constant use.
After the Ploce Port company invested some 40 million kuna (EUR5.4
million) in this state-of-the-art terminal, many tankers prefer
Ploce to Montenegro's Bar or Slovenia's Koper as their liquid cargo
destination.
