KRANJSKA GORA/BORMIO, Jan 4 (Hina) - The best Croatian skier Ivica Kostelic finished as 12th a race in giant slalom, held in the Slovene mountainous resort of Kranjska Gora on Saturday. The winner of the fifth giant slalom race in
this year's World Cup, was American Bode Miller, followed by Austrian Christian Mayer and the third-ranked Finn Sammi Uotila.
KRANJSKA GORA/BORMIO, Jan 4 (Hina) - The best Croatian skier Ivica
Kostelic finished as 12th a race in giant slalom, held in the
Slovene mountainous resort of Kranjska Gora on Saturday. The winner
of the fifth giant slalom race in this year's World Cup, was
American Bode Miller, followed by Austrian Christian Mayer and the
third-ranked Finn Sammi Uotila. #L#
The best Croatian male athlete won 22 new point in the World Cup. His
sister Janica was less successful in a giant slalom race in Bormio,
Italy, on Saturday as well. She crashed out heavily on her second
run when well placed to steal victory.
After the fall the best Croatian female skier said: "I'm fine, a bit
dizzy but I'm not injured."
The winner of this race is Swiss Sonja Nef and the second- and third-
placed were Swede Anja Paerson and Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister
respectively.
Janica remains at the top of the World Cup Alpine skiing standings
with 955 points. The second ranked is Italy's Karin Putzer (569).
