ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter of 2002 increased by 6.5 percent in comparison to the same period the year before, says the State Bureau of Statistics.
ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product in the third
quarter of 2002 increased by 6.5 percent in comparison to the same
period the year before, says the State Bureau of Statistics. #L#
According to quarterly estimates, GDP in 2001 was marked by a real
growth of 3.8 percent in relation to the previous year.
The biggest contribution to the growth of GDP in last year's third
quarter was made by capital investments, import of goods and
services and personal consumption.
Capital investments increased by 15.9 percent, the import of goods
and services by 13.1 percent and personal consumption 7.1 percent.
State spending and exports fell by 0.4 and 1.1 percent respectively
in comparison to the third quarter of 2001.
Indicators on the quarterly calculation of gross added value per
areas of activity (expressed in constant prices) point to major
growth in construction, 16.6 percent in comparison to the third
quarter of 2001, and a 15.9 percent increase in retail and wholesale
trade, the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and objects for
personal use and households.
Financial mediation services increased by 12.3 percent, while
transport, storage and communications grew by 8.3 percent. Hotel
and restaurant services increased by 7.8 percent, and real-estate
transactions, leasing and business services by 7.5 percent.
Mining and extraction, the manufacturing industry and electricity,
gas and water supply marked a 5.4% increase in added value, while
agriculture marked a 1.8 percent and the public sector -
administration, defence, insurance, education, health care, etc. -
a 0.9 percent increase in added value.
