A report on Croatia's cooperation with the UN tribunal will be prepared by the Luxembourg EU Presidency, which will be in contact with both Croatia and the UN tribunal and its chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte, Asselborn said.
The EU Presidency will inform of its findings the Council of the European Union, that is, its foreign ministers, who will then make a decision, he added.
The Luxembourg Presidency wants accession talks with Croatia to start, Asselborn said, adding that he was confident that Croatia was aware of the need to prove its cooperation with The Hague, the Slovene agency STA reported.
The agency reported that the process of enlargement is high among the priorities of the Luxembourg Presidency. Asselborn said that association agreements with Bulgaria and Romania would be signed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on 25 or 26 April 2005. This will wrap up one enlargement round and open a new one, to cover Balkan countries, Asselborn said.
