We made an important decision when we granted Croatia positive avis and now I hope that Croatia will do all that it can to solve that problem and that the ICTY Chief prosecutor will soon be able to say that Croatia's cooperation with the tribunal is more concrete, the daily cited Solana as saying.
In her report to the Security Council, del Ponte said that General Ante Gotovna, who has been at large since June 2001, had been seen in Croatia on many occasions and the last time he was seen was this summer. She added that Gotovina was protected by a strong structure.
Stressing the responsibility of the Croatian government for Gotovina's extradition, del Ponte said the government made significant efforts to locate the fugitive general, but at the same time she expressed doubt in the honest motives behind those efforts.
