CROATS IN SERBIA ON PM SANADER'S VISIT

SUBOTICA, Nov 16 (Hina) - The visit of the Croatian Prime Minister toBelgrade, regardless of how much it was opposed, creates a positiveatmosphere in the two countries' relations which will also be to thebenefit of Croats in Serbia, the president of the Croat NationalCouncil, Josip Ivanovic, said on Tuesday commenting on Monday'smeeting between Croatian PM Ivo Sanader and officials of Serbia andMontenegro.
SUBOTICA, Nov 16 (Hina) - The visit of the Croatian Prime Minister to Belgrade, regardless of how much it was opposed, creates a positive atmosphere in the two countries' relations which will also be to the benefit of Croats in Serbia, the president of the Croat National Council, Josip Ivanovic, said on Tuesday commenting on Monday's meeting between Croatian PM Ivo Sanader and officials of Serbia and Montenegro.

"We expect the full normalisation of the two countries' relations and the normalisation of the position of the Croat community in Serbia," Ivanovic said and added that during his visit to Belgrade, Sanader gave "psychological support" to Croats in Serbia.

His arrival in Serbia was the main topic in all national media which gives us a reason to believe that the position of the Croat community will improve, Ivanovic said,

He stressed that during a brief meeting with Sanader, representatives of the Croat community informed the Croatian PM of the open issues Croats in Serbia were facing in education, information system and the use of the mother tongue in Serbia.

Sanader called on the delegation of the Croat minority in Serbia and Montenegro to continue consultations on issues important for the life and work of Croats in Serbia.

Two leading dailies Dnevnik and Gradjanski List ran the most important conclusion from Sanader's meeting with Serbian officials which say that the two countries' future was in a united Europe.

Dnevnik cited Sanader as saying that the signed agreement on the protection of minority rights was an important steps for both countries.
