SPLITSPLIT, Nov 11 (Hina) - The central Croatian celebration of Europe Dayon 9 May 2005 will be held in the southern Adriatic city of Split,according to talks the chief of the European Commission delegation inCroatia, Jacques Wunenburger, held in Split on Thursday with localofficials.
SPLIT, Nov 11 (Hina) - The central Croatian celebration of Europe Day on 9 May 2005 will be held in the southern Adriatic city of Split, according to talks the chief of the European Commission delegation in Croatia, Jacques Wunenburger, held in Split on Thursday with local officials.

Wunenburger said the Commission opted for Split during the Europe Day celebration in Daruvar, when Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said it was good that such celebrations were held outside Zagreb and suggested Split for next year.

Wunenburger said local authorities were crucial in preparing the celebration, and added the objective was to promote European Union awareness and European ideas among the local population.
