SARAJEVO, Nov 4 (Hina) - Bosnian Constitutional Court President Mato Tadic has announced he will resign from the post at the beginning of 2005, a year and a half before the expiry of his term in office, following accusations of bribery.

"The latest unfounded attacks on me and the suspicions that I have taken bribes have only expedited my decision to resign from the post of President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina. I have been considering it for nearly six months now," Tadic was quoted as saying by the Sarajevo-based daily Dnevni Avaz in its Thursday edition.

Tadic said he intended to resign for health reasons, and added that he believed he had managed to organise a functioning Constitutional Court.

Last week the anti-corruption department of the State Prosecutor"s Office suspected Tadic of taking 100,000 euros in bribes to ensure that several former and present officials facing criminal prosecution on charges of embezzlement and abuse of office were not stripped of immunity. Among them is the Croat member of the Bosnian Presidency, Dragan Covic.
