Bajro Bajric, the president of the association called "Roma for the Roma of Croatia", said that he had asked Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and Education Minister Dragan Primorac to help solve the problem.
Bajric told a news conference that three classes in the first grade in the said school consisted only of Romani children and only one class was combined.
He said there was no justification for the segregation of Romani children given that most of them successfully finished pre-school training.
He added that the Croatian government clearly expressed its position against segregation, but the problem lay, he said, in some individuals at the local level.
