SIBENIK, Oct 5 (Hina) - The Town Council of the southern town of Knin on Tuesday accepted a proposal by the town leadership and the commission for street names to rename Mile Budak Street the Street of the Knin Battalion.

The decision to rename the street was not supported by the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and the Croatian Bloc (HB).

The Knin Town Council is composed of 17 councillors from the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the HB, the HSP, the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), and the Croatian Pure Party of Rights (HCSP), with the HDZ councillors being the most numerous.

Mile Budak was a senior official of the Ustasha regime in Croatia during the Second World War.
