ZAGREB, Sept 30 (Hina) - The first Croatian botanical symposium began
in Zagreb on Thursday with European experts' lectures on the research of
plants and the compiling of a flora database in Europe and the
Mediterranean.Assistant Science Minister Nenad Markovic said that with 323 endemic
plants, Croatia was among the leading in Europe in this field.
The three-day symposium has pooled about 120 participants, half of them
from abroad. The main topic of the event is the flora and vegetation of Croatia
and neighbouring areas.
