ZAGREB, Sept 20 (Hina) - The Juris Protecta association has urged the
Croatian government and the competent ministry and agencies to take all
necessary measures to ensure free competition for all operators in the fixed
telephony "which will lead to the establishment of prices that are usual in
other civilised countries". The association issued a statement on Monday slamming the Croatian
Telecom (HT) for monopolising the fixed telephony market.
It cited the prices of telephone calls in European Union, the United
States and Canada and concluded that charges for international calls in Croatia
were three to six times higher than in those countries.
Calling on other legal entities and individuals to support its request
for the fight against monopoly abuse, the association slammed the former and
the current government for enabling HT to monopolise the fixed telephony for
years.
