ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - The 80th annual Zagreb International Autumn Fair, which closes tonight, was very successful, and both the exhibitors and the visitors are satisfied, Zagreb Fair director Davorin Spevec said on Sunday.

The event, held on premises of 96,500 square metres, featured 1,750 exhibitors, of which 838 were domestic and 866 foreign, 40 countries, with 17 holding collective exhibitions, 30 conferences, and 2,700 participants.

A total of 91,042 visitors saw the fair through Saturday, and today's visits are expected to push the figure to 103,000, said Spevec. Forty-one percent of the visitors were business people while the rest were citizens. Business people from Croatia were the most numerous visitors, followed by business peoples from Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Austria, Italy, and Serbia and Montenegro.

This year's event, which opened on Tuesday, featured fairs on Energetics, Environmental Protection and Municipal Equipment, Traffic and Logistics, Construction, Sanitary Ware and Logistics, Mechanical Engineering and the Metal-Working Industry, Food Industry and Agriculture, Eco-Ethno-Croatia, Hotel and Catering Equipment, Modernpak, Fashion Days, Consumer Goods, and the ARCA Exhibition of Novelties.

Russia was this year's partner country, participating with 54 exhibitors and about 200 business people.

The Zagreb-based company Koncar received a special award for the high level of overall presentation, while the Elka company was given an award for the most successfully arranged exhibition area.

This year's fair was covered by 580 accredited journalists from 184 agencies, including 64 foreign ones, said Spevec.
