The Veritas contains the information on 26 children (of Serb descent) who went missing during the war in Croatia, including the 1995 operations 'Flash' and 'Storm'. Only a few children from Vukovar are on this list of missing persons, Strbac was quoted by the Banja Luka daily 'Nezavisne Novine' in Thursday's issue. Strbac went on to say that nobody from families of the Vukovar victims had yet contacted his organisation and that concrete results of the DNA method of the identification of victims from the Sijekovac mass grave should be waited for.
Wednesday's issue of the Nezavisne Novine paper reported that so far 58 bodies had been exhumed from the Sijekovac mass grave, and that 18 of them were children's corpses.
Exhumations in this area are led by representatives of the authorities of Bosnia's Croat-Muslim entity because it was assumed the local Muslim cemetery contained the remains of missing Muslims.
Slavko Krulj, a prosecutor from Doboj leading the exhumations near Sijekovci, who assumed the bodies belonged to Serbs from Vukovar, was quoted yesterday by the daily as saying that according to data of the Serb association Veritas, 22 children went missing in Vukovar in 1992.
