MOSTAR, Aug 11 (Hina) - The defence in the trial of three former
Bosnian Croat officials accused of financial wrongdoing in Hercegovacka Bank
will propose calling three Croatian government officials from the 1995-2001
period, Zlatko Matesa, Andrija Hebrang and Borislav Skegro, to the witness
stand, one of the defendant's attorneys has said.
Ante Jelavic's lawyer Josip Muselimovic told Mostar's Dnevni List daily of
Wednesday that Bosnia-Herzegovina state court judge Malcolm Simmons had asked
the attorneys representing Jelavic, Miroslav Prce and Miroslav Rupcic to submit
documents and the names of witnesses due to be questioned.
Muselimovic said judge Simmons had set the date of the trial for September
23 or the first available date after that.
Jelavic, Prce and Rupcic were arrested on January 23 on suspicion of
involvement in the embezzling of funds the Croatian government sent through
Hercegovacka Bank as assistance to Croats in Bosnia. All three are in custody
in the part of Sarajevo which is under Bosnian Serb control.
