ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - At the end of a two-day international conference on anti-Semitism, which was held in Berlin, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on Thursday adopted a declaration fully condemning any form of anti-Semitism.#L# It is unequivocally stressed in the declaration that the international situation and political issues, including those in Israel or other Middle East areas, can never justify anti-Semitism. At the end of the conference, officials from 55 OSCE member-states adopted the text of the declaration, which was presented by Solomon Passy, Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, which currently holds the rotating presidency over the organisation. The declaration urges stricter laws and education programmes to be adopted as a measure to fight violence against the Jewish community. The OSCE also decided on the introduction of recording figures on the incidence of racist or anti-Semitic incidents and publication of regular reports on the matter. Passy and German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, who held a joint press conference, assessed the Berlin event as successful. The conference has achieved its goal, as it has been clearly stated that it is necessary to show solidarity with citizens of Jewish origin and their communities, the German minister said adding that anti-Semitism was contrary to democratic foundations and human rights. Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul, who also attended the event, on Wednesday addressed the conference saying that the condemnation of any form of anti-Semitism, racism, extremism and national and religious hatred was in the foundations of the modern Croatian state.
