During their talks in Paris on Tuesday, French and Croatian presidents
discussed, among other things, Zagreb's full cooperation with the
Hague-based UN tribunal, as this was one of conditions Croatia should
meet in order to receive a positive opinion on its EU membership
application.
The Le Monde daily reported in early February that the retired
Croatian general Gotovina had been hiding on Corsica with the help of
his former comrades from the Foreign Legion.
The source from the Croatian delegation quoted Chirac as saying at the
talks with Mesic that Paris had no interest to intervene in favour of
Gotovina.
