MAZOWIETZKI IN FAVOUR OF NEW CONFERENCE ON DAYTON PEACE AGREEMENT

SARAJEVO, April 5 (Hina) - Former UN human rights envoy to the former Yugoslavia Tadeusz Mazowietzki said on Monday that on the tenth anniversary of the 1995 Dayton peace agreement that the ended the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina a new international conference should be called to discuss possible changes to the document.
SARAJEVO, April 5 (Hina) - Former UN human rights envoy to the former Yugoslavia Tadeusz Mazowietzki said on Monday that on the tenth anniversary of the 1995 Dayton peace agreement that the ended the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina a new international conference should be called to discuss possible changes to the document.#L# In an interview with the Bosnian Muslim-Croat federation's FENA news agency during his visit to Sarajevo, Mazowietzki said that the Dayton agreement was important for bringing an end to the war, but that now its improvement should be considered. "Bosnia-Herzegovina cannot be partitioned. Its economy must recover so that it can stabilise and offer young people the prospect of staying in the country," the former Polish prime minister said. Mazowietzki visited Sarajevo at the invitation of the city authorities who awarded him the title of honorary citizen of Sarajevo in recognition of his efforts in protecting human rights and ending the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
