"The Croatian government has condemned this act of vandalism and we
will do everything to prevent this from happening again," Pupovac
said.
After the talks with the 74-year old Serb returnee, Pupovac told
reporters that Zadar police knew the identity of the perpetrators of
this attack as well as of the one which took place about a month ago
in Biljani Donji when the house of another Serb returnee was set on
fire.
The police know about the groups that provoke incidents and they know
who is behind such attacks, Pupovac said. The question is why don't
the police finish the job, Popovac said and added that "such criminals
had their political patrons". He said he expected the government to
clearly say that this was not its policy.
Also present at the talks was the head of the Zemunik Municipal
Council, Josip Marusic, who expressed solidarity and readiness to help
Javor
Marusic said the attackers were "intoxicated individuals who also
broke in a store in Zemunik Donji on the same night".
Javor said he did not have any problems with his Croat neighbours.
"Croatia gave me all that I have and I do not want to blame Croats,"
the Serb returnee said.
