ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - The Islamic Community in Croatia held its
third assembly in Zagreb on Saturday when it adopted a report on its
activities in 2003 and a budget as well as document with activities
for this year. The Islamic Community in Croatia supports cooperation
with other religious communities in the country, and condemns every
form of terrorism, particularly last Thursday's terrorist attack in
Spain, reads a press release issued on Sunday.#L#
At yesterday's event, the head of the Islamic Community in Croatia,
Sevko Omerbasic, submitted the report on the situation in the
Community as well as on its activities last year. The participants in
the assembly were also acquainted with the financial statement for
2003.
After a comprehensive and constructive discussion, the assembly
adopted the plan for 2004.
This year, the Islamic Community is to complete preparations for the
construction of the Islamic centre in the seaport of Rijeka, and to
purchase building land for such centre in the eastern city of Osijek.
It should also build facilities for Muslim believers in the northern
coastal town of Umag and a centre for children in Zagreb.
It supports its organisations and relief agencies in efforts to be
engaged in humanitarian activities.
According to the press release, the Islamic Community's assembly
condemns every form of terrorism, and particularly the latest
terrorist attack in Madrid where 200 innocent people died and some
1,500 sustained injuries.
