SPLIT, Jan 24(Hina) - There is enough room in Croatian politics for a liberal democratic and civic option, Croatian People's Party (HNS) leader Vesna Pusic said in Split on Saturday, adding that her party wished to cooperate more
closely with the Liberal Party and Libra, and in some issues with the Social Liberals.
SPLIT, Jan 24(Hina) - There is enough room in Croatian politics for a
liberal democratic and civic option, Croatian People's Party (HNS)
leader Vesna Pusic said in Split on Saturday, adding that her party
wished to cooperate more closely with the Liberal Party and Libra, and
in some issues with the Social Liberals.#L#
Responding to a question from reporters, she said the Social Democrats
(SDP) would always be a potential coalition partner for the HNS but
that the SDP would have to redefine its position. Pusic added she
could not say when the SDP might do so.
The goal of the HNS is to double the number of votes at the next
parliamentary elections, she said. "The HNS will never again be in the
position of a small party which follows a big one in the realisation
of its projects."
Commenting on the performance of the Ivo Sanader Cabinet, Pusic said
the new government had actually not started functioning yet as it did
not have a budget. She applauded the change of political views of the
ruling Croatian Democratic Union party but voiced concern with the
steps some government members had taken.
