The witness Branko Borovic said he had been taken to Lora in June 1992, but had not been mistreated during the three days he had been held there. "The guards treated me fairly," he said.
Borovic was under investigation in 1992 for his role in the crime of armed rebellion against the constitutional order of the Republic of Croatia. He was arrested and was later transferred from Lora to the Bilice prison in Split.
The other three witnesses, who failed to appear in court in September, are expected to be heard this week. One of them is Dr Simun Andjelinovic, a pathologist from Split's Clinical Hospital who performed autopsies on Nenad Knezevic and Gojko Bulovic, who died in Lora in June 1992. The eight former police officers are charged with the two men's deaths.
