ZAGREB, Sept 21 (Hina) - The European Union is investing significant efforts into improving communications with citizens and encouraging them to participate in the decision making process in the EU, the head of the European Documentation Centre of the University of Cardiff, Ian Thomson, said at a seminar called "New Trends in the EU Information Policy" held in Zagreb on Wednesday.

At the seminar, organised by the International Relations Institute (IMO) with the support of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, Thomson informed the participants of the novelties in the information sector in the EU, notably in the context of the new information strategy of the European Commission.

Thompson showed the participants how to use document registers of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU as useful sources of information about their activities.

The seminar was attended by some 100 information experts, employees in the EU information centres in Croatia, state administration employees, members of the academic community and non-governmental organisations.
