ZAGREB, Sept 21 (Hina) - The European Union is investing
significant efforts into improving communications with citizens and encouraging
them to participate in the decision making process in the EU, the head of the
European Documentation Centre of the University of Cardiff, Ian Thomson, said
at a seminar called "New Trends in the EU Information Policy" held in Zagreb on
Wednesday. At the seminar, organised by the International Relations
Institute (IMO) with the support of the German Foundation for International
Legal Cooperation, Thomson informed the participants of the novelties in the
information sector in the EU, notably in the context of the new information
strategy of the European Commission.
Thompson showed the participants how to use document registers of the
European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU as
useful sources of information about their activities.
The seminar was attended by some 100 information experts, employees in
the EU information centres in Croatia, state administration employees, members
of the academic community and non-governmental organisations.
