JERUSALEM, June 28 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader wrapped up his two-day visit to Israel on Tuesday by meeting his Israeli counterpart Ariel Sharon at a dinner at Sharon's office.

As is the custom, there were no statements to the press after the talks at Sharon's office. The press are only addressed when a foreign official is being welcomed.

Welcoming Sanader, Sharon told a dozen Croatian and Israeli journalists he was confident the visit and the talks would strengthen bilateral relations.

Sanader confirmed expectations that the meeting would be a step towards the strengthening of Croatia-Israel relations.

Earlier on, he said the talks would focus on bilateral relations, but also address the situation in the Near East and in Southeast Europe, and Croatia's European Union integration. Sanader said Israel was interested in Europe's future and that it had a special partnership with the EU.

Earlier today, the Croatian delegation with Sanader at the helm visited the new Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum.

"This museum is much better and more modern than the old one. I like the philosophy of the display because it individualises the victims and there are no big numbers," Sanader said after the tour, adding that "man is much more struck when he sees that this is about concrete people and not just numbers".

The Croatian delegation laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance and symbolically turned up the eternal flame. They also visited the Children's Memorial, after which Sanader signed the Guest Book.

Sanader said a prayer at the Valley of the Communities. In memory of the first visit by a Croatian PM to Israel, he planted an oak.

On Monday, Sanader met Israeli Deputy PM Shimon Peres and the chairman of the Israeli National Security Council, Gior Eiland, while Croatian Deputy PM Damir Polance met prominent Israeli business people.
