The weekly reports that Sanader inquired about Gotovina's movement and locations in Bosnia-Herzegovina where he could be hiding.
"We were surprised when he said something like 'If you know something, you should cooperate so that he is found'", the unnamed party member said, adding that Sanader also inquired about the possibility of members of the Franciscan order in Herzegovina helping Gotovina hide. "When he realised that none of those in attendance knew anything about that, he changed the topic to discuss cooperation between the two parties, which he described as poor," the party official said.
According to "Danas", this was the first time the Croatian PM said he suspected Franciscan priests in Herzegovina to be hiding the runaway general, who is wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal.
"Only a few days after the meeting, the chief prosecutor of the Hague tribunal, Carla del Ponte, said before the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna that she was in possession of information that General Gotovina is hiding somewhere between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, again without specifying his possible location," the paper said.
