ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - This year's first inspection of hygienicconditions of the sea, carried out at 851 beaches along the Croatiancoast has shown that at 676 inspected points, the sea is of highquality, 155 points prove to be good
for bathing, at 14 points thereis moderate pollution, and serious pollution is registered at sixpoints.
ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - This year's first inspection of hygienic
conditions of the sea, carried out at 851 beaches along the Croatian coast has
shown that at 676 inspected points, the sea is of high quality, 155 points
prove to be good for bathing, at 14 points there is moderate pollution, and
serious pollution is registered at six points. Of the six polluted
beaches, two are in Split County and four in Primorje County (Rijeka area),
according to the results published by the Croatian Zoning and Environment
Protection Ministry on Wednesday.
Inspections of hygienic conditions will be carried out until the end of
the swimming season in late September.
Samples of the water from the beaches are taken at least 10 times
during the season, and 12 times at beaches covered by the 'Blue Flag'
project.
