MOSTAR, May 17 (Hina) - The World Bank will grant a US$6.5 million loan under very favourable conditions for environmental protection in the Mostar area of southern Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Mostar city authorities said in a statement on Tuesday.

This is the largest amount of money allocated by the World Bank for environment protection in Bosnia-Herzegovina since the 1992-1995 war.

The loan was agreed on Tuesday during a meeting between the Mayor of Mostar, Ljubo Beslic, and the head of the World Bank Office in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dirk Reinermann.

$4.5 million will be used for dredging the bed of the Neretva river and $2 million for resolving the problem of the city's refuse dump, the statement said.
