ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - The exhibition "Renaissance in France - Masterpieces from the National Museum of the Renaissance in Ecouen" was staged in the Klovicevi Dvori Gallery in Zagreb on Thursday evening, under the auspices of the Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and his French colleague, Jacques Chirac.

This is a reciprocal exhibition after Croatian Renaissance works of art were put on display in the chateau of Ecouen last year.

The Zagreb exhibition, which was opened by President Mesic, features 153 works of art, including mosaics, stained glass windows, tapestries, sculptures, paintings, furniture items and some other valuable artefacts.

We have now an opportunity to enjoy a unique and comprehensible language of the art which confirms the thesis about a great humanistic idea, which spread all over the Europe, confirming the existence of a single European area. a creative part of which Croatia was and is, Mesic said commending the organisers of the event for their efforts.

Croatian Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic said that the exhibition bore witness to long historical ties between the Croatia and French people.

Speeches on this occasion were also delivered by French Ambassador to Croatia, Francois Saint-Paul, the Ecouen museum's director, Alain Erlande-Brandenburg, the gallery's director, Vesna Kusin, and Zagreb Mayor Vlasta Pavic.

The exhibition is open until 17 July.
