"This is a demanding and necessary process and the RBI will be the first Croatian institution to undergo such rigorous evaluation," Ramljak said.
After the transformation, the RBI will become an institution consisting of independent research institutes directed towards international competitive research activities.
This year, the institute will also commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of world-famous Croatian scientist and philosopher Rudjer Boskovic.
Conferences marking the anniversary will be organised in Dubrovnik and Zagreb, and one of the guests at those events will be Jean Marie Lehn, a Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry.
