The meeting was held in Lastovo and saw county institutes for public health, environmental protection and the sustainable development of the Adriatic area discuss the quality of sea water in the 2004 summer tourist season and preparations for the adjustment of domestic legislation on sea water quality to European Union standards.
The head of the ministry's department for the protection of the sea and coastal area, Nevia Kruzic, said EU laws were much stricter than Croatian when it came to the preservation of the sea.
