MURTER, March 28 (Hina) - The monument erected in memory of anti-Fascists fighters in the central square in the town Murter on the island of Murter off Sibenik, was damaged in an explosion in the night between 27 and 28 March.

The Sibenik-Knin county police reported on Monday that an unknown perpetrator set up an explosion device at the pedestal of the bronze monument at about 02.00 am Monday.

Nobody was hurt in the blast. However, a leg of the monument, four cars parked in its vicinity, and windows of nearby buildings were damaged. The damage is estimated at 50,000 kuna (approx. 6700 euros).

A police investigation is under way.

Local councillors are expected to meet on Monday afternoon to discuss the incident
