ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - Two Croatian men have attacked a group of five Turkish tourists in Zagreb, slightly injuring one of them, the police reported on Friday.

Four Turkish men and a woman were waiting at a bus stop around 6.40 p.m. on Thursday when they were approached by an 18-year-old man who asked them something in Croatian. They replied in English that they did not understand what he was saying and stepped away from him. The young man then took an empty beer bottle and went after them, hitting one of the men on the head.

The four Turkish men fled to a nearby shop and asked the owner to call the police, while the 37-year-old woman remained alone in the street. She was approached by another, 31-year-old Croatian man, who punched her in the head, after which she escaped to the shop to join her fellow countrymen.

Police spokeswoman Gordana Vulama said that the attack occurred after the two Croats had made remarks about the woman.

The 32-year-old Turkish man who was hit on the head with a beer bottle was slightly injured, while the woman said she was fine and refused medical attention.

The police arrested the two attackers on Friday morning, and said that the older man had a criminal record.

The Turkish tourists arrived in Zagreb from Istanbul on Thursday.
