ZAGREB, March 4 (Hina) - The EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committeeended its first two-day meeting in Zagreb on Friday with the adoptionof a joint declaration and recommendations, supporting the opening ofmembership negotiations
with Croatia on 17 March 2005 as scheduled. The European Parliament fully supports thestart of Croatia's EU membership talks in mid-March, a co-chairman ofthe EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee, Pal Schmitt, said aftertalks with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic in Zagreb on Friday. The Chairman of the European UnionCouncil of Ministers, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, metthe Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for theformer Yugoslavia (ICTY), Carla del Ponte, in The Hague on Friday fortalks on Croatia's cooperation with the UN court. Deputies of the European People'sParty (EPP) in the European Parliament have requested that EU entrytalks with Croatia be opened on 17
