ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The plastic surgery department of Zagreb's
"Dubrava" clinical hospital has been accredited by the European Association of
Plastic Surgery to train residents in plastic surgery, which makes it the first
medical centre outside the European Union conducting such training in line
with EU standards. The head of the department, Zdenko Stanec, told Hina on Thursday that
doctors from other European countries would now be able to specialise in
plastic surgery in Zagreb.
The secretary-general of the European Association of Plastic Surgery,
Jon Edberg, who recently visited the Zagreb hospital, gave a positive
evaluation of its plastic surgery department.
About two dozen European centres have so far been accredited as training
centres, and this year accreditation was awarded to hospitals in Innsbruck
and Zagreb.
