NHS trade union accuses government of ignoring growing insolvency

ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - The Croatian NHS trade union federation has accused the government of failing to do anything to address the problem of growing insolvency and to collect taxes and contributions, saying this harms the most 70,000 workers who go to work but do not receive salaries.

The government must urgently take measures to deal with insolvency which has already reached HRK 36 billion, NHS leader Kresimir Sever told a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.

Of that amount, 13.5 billion kuna refers to taxes and contributions which employers should have paid for their workers, Sever said, adding that this showed the government's lack of care for the budget.
