Grandic, one of 54 convicts whom Mesic did not grant a pardon, was sentenced to ten years in prison for organising and participating in the killing of some 40 civilians, mostly Serbs.
When his verdict became final, Grandic submitted a request to be granted a pardon, citing as the main reason the need to care for his underage son who was taken from his mother due to parental neglect and placed in a children's home.
Mesic granted the request last year, which reduced Grandic's sentence to eight years, but turned down his latest request.
