The two officials said that Croatia and Macedonia had good bilateral relations, but needed to boost economic cooperation.
Mesic said that Croatia supported Macedonia's aspirations to membership of the European Union and that it was willing to help it on that road. He also pointed out that Croatia would like to see all the countries of Southeast Europe in the European Union.
Gruevski cited economic growth and NATO membership as Macedonia's top priorities at the moment. In this context he welcomed indications that Croatia would be invited to join NATO in 2008.
The talks also focused on the current situation in the region, including the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina following the October 1 general election and the Kosovo status talks.
