Croatian foreign minister meets senior Russian officials

MOSCOW, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatia's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, who is on an official visit to Russia, on Wednesday met the Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District, Georgy Poltavchenko, to discuss economic cooperation.
MOSCOW, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatia's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, who is on an official visit to Russia, on Wednesday met the Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District, Georgy Poltavchenko, to discuss economic cooperation.

The Russian official was interested in investment possibilities in Croatia and the Croatian minister informed him of the economic situation in the country. The two officials also discussed cooperation in power and shipbuilding industries and in housing construction.

The Central Federal District is Russia's most developed district and it covers one-fourth of the European part of Russia, with Moscow as the capital. The district, which accounts for 30 percent of Russia's GDP, has a population of 38 million.

Grabar Kitarovic also met the vice-president of the Russian parliament's lower house, Valentin Kuptsov. The talks focused on parliamentary cooperation and the political situation in Southeast Europe.

The Croatian minister was also scheduled to hold a lecture at the Russian Federation's Diplomatic Academy on challenges faced by Croatia and other Southeast European countries in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The Croatian minister will leave for St Petersburg this evening.
