"Will this punishment be executed or not? I assume that it won't because many in Europe and the world advocate that this punishment be turned into a life in prison," Mesic said, adding that it was difficult to talk about it.
Mesic said that that according to the verdict, Saddam was responsible for many deaths, but that death penalty did not solve the problem.
"I believe that mush more would be accomplished with a prison sentence, but it is difficult to talk about the judiciary of another country because the rules are different there," Mesic said.
