VUKOVAR, Aug 25 (Hina) - Vukovar County Court investigating judge Slavko Teofilovic ruled on Friday that suspects in the 1992 killing of the Olujic family from the eastern Croatian village of Cerna should be remanded in custody for a month.

The Vukovar County Prosecutor's Office today sent a request for investigation to Judge Teofilovic asking that the suspects be remanded in custody on suspicion of committing a war crime against civilians.

Four Croatian nationals are suspected of the murder of the 38-year-old Croatian Serb Radomir Olujic, his 37-year-old Croat wife Anica and their son and daughter, aged 16 and 13 at the time of the murder. The police are looking for a fifth suspect, whose identity has not been established yet.

The murder occurred in the night between 17 and 18 February 1992, and the police described it as murder for gain. The police brought the four men before Judge Teofilovic yesterday, who ruled that they be remanded in custody for 48 hours.

The Vukovar County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that the murder of the Olujic family constituted a war crime. The office recalled that at the time of the murder, the suspects were members of the Croatian Army. One of the suspects is an active Croatian Army serviceman.
