ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) - Croatia's total public debt came to 113.9 billion kuna at the end of May, accounting for 46.1 percent of the nominal value of the projected Gross Domestic Product for this year.

According to a report issued by the Finance Ministry in its latest regular monthly bulletin, the debt includes the country's internal and external debt and debts from extra-budgetary funds and local units' budgets.

When the debt of the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) of 6.45 billion kuna is added, the public debts totals 120.4 billion kuna or 48.7 percent of the projected GDP.

The ministry reported that the debt in late May fell by 70.8 million kuna from April.

This drop was the result of an 86.8 million cut in the budgetary debt, a 212.9 million reduction in state subsidies and a cut in the debt of the HBOR.

The debt of local self-government units remained at 1.3 billion in May as in April, while the debt of extra-budgetary funds rose by 398.1 million.
