Catholic church in south Bosnia and Herzegovina stoned

SARAJEVO, Jan 20 (Hina) - The Trinity church in the village of Blagaj near the southern city of Mostar was stoned earlier this week, the Roman Catholic news agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina reported on Thursday.

During his visit on 17 January to the church, which was declared a cultural monument in 2008, the local parish priest Bernard Marjanovic found window panes on the church smashed and many bricks and stones scattered around the church.

After he informed the police, an on-sight investigation was conducted.

The news agency recalls that during the 1990s war local Catholics fled that area. The church in Blagaj, which was built in 1908, was destroyed and its reconstruction began after it was proclaimed a cultural monument.
