New Montenegrin government appointed

PODGORICA, Dec 29 (Hina) - The Montenegrin parliament on Wednesday appointed a new government led by Prime Minister Igor Luksic after his predecessor Milo Djukanovic recently decided to resign.

Parliamentary deputies from the ruling coalition, consisting of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Croat Civil Initiative (HGI), the Bosniak Party (BS) and parties representing ethnic Albanians, supported the new cabinet.

The ministries of foreign affairs, the interior, and defence will be run by the same ministers from the Djukanovic cabinet: Milan Rocen, Ivan Brakovic and Boro Vucinic respectively.

Apart from Djukanovic, Svetozar Marovic stepped down as Deputy Prime Minister, as did another six ministers from the previous cabinet.

In his inaugural speech, PM Luksic of DPS said his cabinet would be committed to meeting criteria for the continuation of Montenegro's integration with the European Union and to carrying out reforms.
